Niche Sites - Evolution-Vs-Revolution
The other day, I saw one of the people who is usually referred to as a ‘guru’ (heck, I can’t even remember who it was - Mike Filsaime,Yanik Silver, someone like that) referred to as a ‘commentator’.
Now, apart from the fact that it seems to be a far less negative term than ‘guru’, it got me thinking as to why the change in term was being used now, and what they commentated on.
See, I have a theory that business on the net is evolutionary 85% of the time, and revolutionary the other 15%, and that it is when the revolutions are taking place that these guys start becoming commentators, rather than just plain old gurus.
Of course, they also do so when they have products to push, but I’m talking about something different here.
See, these people are becoming ever more visible around about now, when I feel that we are just hitting a ‘15% moment’, a period of revolution when things in online business and internet marketing will change extremely rapidly.
I believe this to be the case because, whilst some things (like Web 2.0 promotional tactics) are always changing (= evolution) there are times when things that are hardly ever different start to be radically revised (revolution).
So, for example, if you are into building niche marketing sites, then there are some big, big changes coming that will (or actually already are) producing brand new types of niche sites that are far more interactive and exciting than those that we have been used to.
At this moment, I’m looking into how these things work, and whether the changes that I am seeing happen can be made without buying the $100 software that most people are using.
I think that it can be done, and I’ll keep you posted.
Mysterious, eh?
